First storm of the season

The first storm of the season came just after New Year, see the following description,
and graphic. We battled the collapse of the structure due to snow and ice weight through
the storm that lasted more than 24 hours. Snow removal was accomplished using a push
broom attached to two ropes allowing it to be pulled over the top of the dome to remove
the snow.  It wasn't CANCUN but the twinkie survived to see another day..



 From the forcast...

tonight:
     snow and sleet...heavy at times...changing to all snow shortly after midnight.
     precipitation possibly mixing with freezing
     rain this evening. windy and cold with blowing and drifting snow.
     steady temperature in the upper teens to the lower 20s. east wind 15
     to 25 mph and gusty...becoming northeast late.
 

     saturday:
     snow...heavy at times. windy and cold with blowing and drifting snow.
     steady temperature in the lower 20s. gusty
     northeast wind 15 to 25 mph...becoming north.
 

     saturday night:
     snow...tapering to flurries by midnight. total storm accumulation of 10 to 15
     inches. continued windy and cold with
     blowing and drifting snow. low around 15.
 

     sunday:
     windy with some blowing and drifting snow. otherwise... mostly cloudy with
     a chance of snow. high in the upper teens.
     chance of snow 30 percent.
