The Crazy Horse Monument is a
work in progress.
Started in 1939 by agreement
between
Sculptor Korczak and Chief Standing
Bear.
Supported entirely by private
funds raised
mainly by admission, progress
has been slow.
Korczak refused $10,000,000 in
Federal funding
several times, stating that
the feds could not be trusted
to complete the project.
Considering how the Indians
have been treated
in the past by the government,
we agree.
